History - Members of the Tongva and Juaneño/Luiseño nations long inhabited this area, followed by Spanish settlers, Mexican settlers, and finally American settlers following the Mexican-American war. A carriage maker, named Columbus Tustin, founded the city in the 1870s and it was incorporated in 1927. Today, Tustin's population is 79,539.
